7 clever spending tips to help you shop smarter

There's more to saving money than buying less or resorting to zany tricks like potty training your cat so it doesn't have to use an expensive litter box or making your own laundry soap (though we do admit that both are pretty darn clever).

In actuality, you can probably save hundreds of dollars every year by spending smarter, i.e. knowing when to buy certain items and being familiar with technology that can help you maximize savings.

Here are seven tips to help you become a smarter spender, not the family cheapskate.

1. Get your groceries on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday to save at the supermarket
 supermarket

Why are those three days shoppers' sweet spot?

On Wednesdays, many grocers begin store sales that last for a week. On Sundays, big supermarkets often release coupon pamphlets.

By shopping on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, consumers are able to take advantage of both promotions.

"The time window to capitalize on both the sale and the coupon is best after you get the coupons on Sunday and before the next sale cycle begins on Wednesday,"
"The time window to capitalize on both the sale and the coupon is best after you get the coupons on Sunday and before the next sale cycle begins on Wednesday," says Greg Karp, author of Living Rich by Spending Smart.

If you buy a store's specials, buy enough to last you for three months, Karp recommends. Sales typically run in 12-week cycles, so those same items will likely be discounted again roughly three months from the day you purchase them on.

2. You should let it linger

It's not just a cheesy Cranberries reference. If you're in no rush to buy an item online, let it sit in your online shopping cart for a few days. Some retailers will start sending you coupons for your stagnant item. Others will notify you when its price drops.

It's not the most foolproof method of saving money (most retailers won't offer you coupons, and many will empty your cart if it idles for too long), but it can't hurt if you can wait a few weeks to buy that Cranberries boxset.

3. Use your smartphone to shop competitively

Today, your smartphone is your best shopping ally. While you're shopping, you should use it to find an item's price both online and offline, and if other retailers might be selling it in bulk.

According to a Shopatron survey, 86% of retailers say customers use mobile phones while shopping in stores.

Here are a few smartphone apps that'll help you compare prices and find the best deals.

Red Laser: Forget about manually entering in long barcodes to price shop. Red Laser scans barcodes and shows you comparable prices, offline and online. If you like an online price you see, Red Laser will redirect you to that company's website. If the best deal is in a store near you, Red Laser provides directions from your locations.

BuyVia: In the market for gadgets? The BuyVia app will provide reviews from tech sites to go along with the best prices locally and nationally. If you're sitting on an item and waiting for its price to drop, BuyVia can send you alerts so you don't miss any flash sales.

4. If there's a sale, buy in bulk
When shopping for products that you buy more than once or twice a year, like toothbrushes or rice, try to buy as much as you can, especially if there's a sale.

"You should buy what’s on sale and stockpile it," Karp says. "Think about that for a minute. You buy the exact same products and brands; you just buy them at ideal times."

By identifying a sale item and purchasing it in bulk, you'll save yourself times, gas and money.

"You can cut spending painlessly without depriving yourself," Karp says.

5. Mark May off on your calendar — it's a great month to buy

From food to toiletries and appliances, May is a savvy shopper's ideal month, says Mark Di Vincenzo, author of Buy Ketchup in May and Fly at Noon.

Here are items Di Vincenzo recommends purchasing in May:

Refrigerators: Retailers usually get their new model refrigerators in the summer, Di Vincenzo says. To make room for the new stock, they slash prices on older models in May and June.

Deodorant: May is a great month to save your wallet and your pits. To prepare for warmer months, stores frequently discount deodorant and offer buy-one-get-one-free discounts. If you can combine the promotions, perhaps even with another dollar-off coupon, you (and your pits) are golden. Remember to stock up during the sale.

Condiments and picnic items: In the summer, supermarkets lure shoppers in by offering steep discounts on items they know they're likely looking for in the warmer months, such as ketchup, mustard, paper plates and plastic utensils. Those discounts are just to get you in the door; retailers hope you'll buy much more than plates once you're inside.

During May, Di Vincenzo recommends stocking up on your picnic items for the summer and condiments for the rest of the year; unopened sauces and salad dressings will stay fresh on your shelf for a year, and you'll be getting them at a reduced price.

Mattresses and box springs: As they do with refrigerators, retailers chop bedding prices in May to prepare for newer summer models. Because profit margins are so high for mattress sellers, shoppers should feel comfortable bargaining the price down, Di Vincenzo says.

6. Download Coupons at Checkout to get instant savings when you check out online
Sick of spending time looking for coupon codes that don't end up working?

Coupons at Checkout, a Google Chrome browser extension that takes less than one minute to set up and learn, automatically gathers coupon codes for the item you're about to buy and puts them into a dropdown menu in your purchase window.

The extension rates codes on confidence, so you're able to see which deal is the most likely to be current.

7. Email alerts could land you a bargain on airfare
While clearing your cache and cookies isn't guaranteed to score you cheaper plane tickets, email alerts are the best way to make sure you catch a good deal on a plane ticket before it's gone.

Here are two two email alert systems that'll help you snag the flash deals on airline tickets.

Yapta: Don't stop paying attention to the price of your flight once you've purchased your ticket. Yapta can help you re-book it for a lower price. The app will send you a notification when the fare falls more than the cost of the airline's change fee. At that point, you re-ticket and pocket the savings.

Airfarewatchdog: If you're booking your flight well in advance of your departure date, sign up for Airfarewatchdog's price alerts. Users can receive alerts for a particular city or route that are individually vetted by Airfarewatchdog's analysts, making sure a computer algorithm doesn't send you a deal that doesn't exist. The site also tweets out eye-catching deals.

Fathers day gift guide + Latest Coupon code on Father's day 2015

David Pass reviews 9 cool gifts for all the dads in your life.
This is my first Father’s Day. Do I deserve a gift? Sure, why not.  I’ve learned it’s not always easy being a dad, and who doesn’t want to get recognized for their efforts? I would truly appreciate some non-material things such as going on a hike with the family, the opportunity to sleep in or a family dinner as much as any material gift. An object that somebody uses all the time has the unique effect that it reminds the user of the giver and the occasion every time they use it and heck, I love stuff! So here is my Father’s Day gift guide for 2015:

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ100 — $749

If Dad has been truly amazing, this is the most expensive item on my list, but it will pay dividends for the whole family for a lifetime. This Panasonic camera with a Leica lens takes great photos and also shoots 4k video. This camera is loaded with features and can really zoom in on any action. It even has face recognition which is very cool for dads.  It can remember your kid, and if your kid is in a group of other people (such as a school play), it will automatically focus on your kid.

Apple is the largest company in the world for a reason; people love their stuff. Since dads are people, too, here are three Apple items:
Apple Watch — starting at $349
The Apple Watch
The Apple Watch
I don’t own one, I’m not sure of everything it can do, but I want one. Starting at $349 and going up to a gazillion dollars, this is the hottest new item from Apple.

Apple Watch

I don’t own one, I’m not sure of everything it can do, but I want one. Starting at $349 and going up to a gazillion dollars, this is the hottest new item from Apple.

Apple TV — $69

I never thought I needed Apple TV, and you might feel the same way. Once you have it though, you’ll love it.  It allows you to stream anything from your computer to your TV, including Netflix, Hulu and the like. I would choose Apple TV over devices like the cheaper ChromeCast for the sole reason Apple TV comes with a remote control. If you’re a PC person, I would check out the Amazon Firestick.

SafeSleeve iPhone Case — $45-$50

The SafeSleeve Case
I love my iPhone, but iPhones give off more radiation than most other cell phones on the market. Protect your dad and your kids (for when they borrow dad’s phone) with SafeSleeve. These cases are very well made and stylish while blocking more than half the radiation emitting from a phone. I have the iPhone 6 plus case, and I can leave the house without a wallet by sticking a few credit cards and my driver’s license in the case. The case also acts as a stand for the phone.

Ecco Shoes — $119

Ecco Golf Shoe
Ecco Golf Shoe
I remember watching a golf tournament and saw Freddy Couples wearing golf shoes that looked more like slippers. At the time, golf shoes were not super comfortable, and I became very interested in what he was wearing.  They were made by Ecco, and now they are the only golf shoe I wear.  I found them so comfortable that I also wear Ecco shoes for just walking around. They make a wide variety of shoes, not just for golf. The golf shoes are made of Yak leather, and maybe that’s their secret. I hope the Yak leather is just a byproduct of the Yak meat industry.
Ecco Golf Shoe

The next gifts on my list are inspired by my love of reality TV shows. If your dad watches some of the shows I do, he’ll enjoy the following:

Primitive Fire Starting Kit — $39.99

If you’re a fan of shows like Naked and Afraid, Bear Grylls, Survivor Man, or Dual Survivor (to name a few), you probably want to know that you could make fire and survive in any situation. If you live in a city, you probably can’t find two sticks to rub together. If you can find two sticks to rub together, they might not be quite right. This kit gives you everything you need to practice making fire like caveman dads used to do it.
Primitive Fire Starter Kit

Gold Rush Nugget Bucket — $123.95

If you’re a fan of Gold Rush, Bering Sea Gold, or Ice Cold Gold (to name a few), you probably have gold fever. As wise old miners say, “Gold is where you find it.” In truth, gold is all over the place in small amounts and with this kit, your family can go out looking for it. It seems a little pricy for what you get, but it will probably pay for itself immediately. I originally saw this product featured on Shark Tank.
Gold Rush Nugget Bucket
♦◊♦
A neck tie might not be an appropriate gift for many dads anymore, but there is still room for more traditional gifts. Here are a couple of classic ideas:

Big Skinny Wallet — $24.95

I like to have everything as compact as possible. When I’m not using my cell phone case to double as my wallet, I carry a Big Skinny. Some other thin wallets make you fold your money in strange ways or have other gimmicks. This wallet is like every other wallet, but a lot thinner! It has excellent quality and durability.
Big Skinny Wallet

Cole Haan Truman Duffle — $498

This is the perfect bag for long weekends and short business trips. I’ve even taken it to Europe for extended stays and just washed my clothes a few times on the trip. The price tag is a little hefty, but there is no reason at all that this bag shouldn’t last a lifetime. Mine has picked up some stains along the way, but any wear it has just makes it look loved. It’s hard to look cooler checking into a hotel than with this bag.

4 Skincare Ingredients to Look Out For

It’s always important to check out the ingredients in your skincare products in order to ensure you have the right one for you. With the temps dropping you’re likely changing up your routine a bit to compensate for cold, dry whether, so what better time than now to take a look at the labels? I’ve rounded up a few ingredients to be on the lookout for when it comes to skincare, as they can replenish vital nutrients and combat the signs of aging.

Antioxidants

Antioxidants are micronutrients that protect against free radicals, effectively promoting good health and slowing the aging process. Just as antioxidants have detoxifying effects when consumed in food, they can help your skin when applied topically in products like boscia’s Luminizing Black Mask and Coola sunscreen (remember, just because the sun isn’t out doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use SPF!). Skin treated with a healthy dose of antioxidants shows, too, with reduced inflammation, pore size, fine lines, and more.

Green Tea

While vitamins C and E are known antioxidants, you can’t forget about green tea! Known to be chock full of them, green tea searches for and fights free radicals that damage cells. That’s how it reduces sun damage and fights against skin cancer in addition to calming and reducing redness. If you want to add antioxidants to your skincare routine, look no further than products with green tea.

Ceramides
Fat molecules called Ceramides aid in the growth of healthy cells and keep them hydrated. Excess sun exposure and other damage can decrease the presence of ceramides, leading to dry, vulnerable skin. Products like Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Lift & Firm SPF foundation help keep skin protected and hydrated.

Alpha & Beta Hydroxy Acids

Water soluble alpha hydroxyl acids (AHAs) work at the layer of the skin to restore moisture and brighten, while BHAs penetrate deeper to fight acne at the source. They’re both exfoliants working to aid in cell turnover. While many skincare products focus on one or the other, Murad’s exfoliating cleanser combines them both to treat acne while combating dryness.

8 Unique Twists on Classic Mother's Day Gifts

Americans spend approximately $20 billion on Mother's Day each year, making it the second most expensive holiday on the calendar behind the winter holiday season. While most of that money goes towards flowers (almost $2 billion) and cards (approximately $671 million), we’ve thought of a few unique ways to tell your mom you love her.

Jewelry
36% of Mother’s Day gifts are homemade, and you can’t go wrong with beads. Even if you’re not a kid, sit down at a table with mom and make something together. Not different enough for you? Well, let’s continue…

Chocolate
Ever wondered what Jupiter tastes like? Chocolates are a fairly common Mother's Day gift, but these celestial chocolates designed to look like each of the planets within our solar system are anything but ordinary. In fact, you might say they’re out of this world.

Glassware
A coffee mug is a good gift idea because it’s the kind of gift that people use the whole year. Therefore, this 22 oz. behemoth of a mug is a subtle year-round reminder of just who holds the power around the house.

Flowers and...

Mother’s Day accounts for a quarter of all flowers sold for any given holiday, second only to Valentine's Day. The most popular and traditional flower for moms is pink (or red) carnations. And yes, you can order Mother’s Day flowers on eBay.

...a Priceless Chinese Vase
Americans spend a staggering $1.9 billion on Mother’s Day flowers. With that kind of money, a rare 815-year-old Qingbai vase—at $2.7M—is just pocket change. What, you were gonna stick those flowers in a simple mason jar?

Handmade Clothes
Socks are a pretty great gift when you don’t quite know what to get the other person. On one hand (well, foot, actually) socks are a little boring. On the other, everyone pretty much wears socks most days so they’re a very practical gift. Why not kick it up a notch and do something completely different like get her an industrial knitting machine? Mom will surely keep you—and the whole family, probably—in socks for a lifetime. She may even start her own sock company. All thanks to you.

A Shared Experience
The bond between a mother and child is a very special thing. Much like the bond between two pieces of velcro. Why take mom to a Mother’s Day brunch or dinner—like approximately 34% of Americans do—when you can jump on a velcro wall together? It sure beats potentially awkward conversation over poached eggs and mimosas.

A New Ride
We’ve all heard of helicopter parents: the kind that “hover” over their kids and monitor their every move. If you know a mom like that, why not get her a real helicopter this year? For a mere $279,000 you can show what it really means to be a helicopter parent.

Yes, some of these gift ideas are outlandish, but hopefully they gave you some good ideas. Do something a little different this year. Because while it may be nice to get a giant mug or even a helicopter, what really matters is that the gift comes from you. And remember: Breakfast in bed and a homemade card are perfect gifts, too, and they don’t have to cost a thing.

4 WAYS TO CREATE AN ORGANIZED CLOSET

To me, the perfect space is all about balance. I don’t like to have too many things in my living area that I won’t use. Of course, when it comes to my closet – things have the potential to get out of hand. I truly love and use most of what’s in there, but I don’t like it to feel overwhelmed. I covered closets a bit in my book, but when it comes to your living space, there is always more to learn. If a disorganized closet has led to more time spent unearthing the perfect outfit (say, from a heap of clothes on the floor?), it’s time for an intervention. Here’s how to do it.

4 Ways to Create an Organized Closet

Rotate Stock
This old trick for storing depending on the seasons works wonders for those with a small closet but a little space for tucking unused clothes away. If you’ve got no room on the rack but plenty under your bed, then get to pulling everything you don’t need for the next 4-6 months out. Simply swap the box and closet stash when September rolls around, and your closet won’t get cluttered with things you won’t wear.

Layer Up
I learned this awhile back and it is once again so helpful if you don’t have a lot of room! Double up the clothes on your hangers by pairing the things you’re likely to layer on in real outfits, like your fave blazers and blouses for interviews, tank tops with cardigans, and so on. In essence, this method allows you to have double the items on the hangers without the row of clothes expanding as far. Don’t complicate it too much though, or you’ll never stay consistent with this new system, and end up with more on the ground.

Utilize Overhead Space
It’s there for a reason! And the space underneath too. I like to keep long dresses to the side so I can actually keep things on the ground underneath the clothing rack in plain sight (remember, out of sight, out of mind). It’s the perfect spot for shoes, bigger bags, and your laundry hamper if need be. Overhead is a great spot for those items you don’t wear too much but don’t exactly fit in the “store away” categories, like sweaters and your lesser-worn pants, and of course shoes to display. It never hurts to have your prettiest pieces on display above so that you can easily find them, and bonus… they can double as decor.

Color Coordinate
Color coordinating may sound like more of a pain than it’s worth, but I can’t count how many hours this alone has saved me. I’m a very visual person and more often than not I am going for a certain vibe rather than an exact type of top or dress. So knowing right away whether I should gravitate toward bright colors, black, or neutrals, helps out a ton!

BODY SKIN CARE TIPS

Sure, we obsess over our face because it’s the first thing we see when we look in the mirror. However, the skin on the rest of our bodies not only takes up much more space but is equally important! Skin, our protective barrier, needs to be cared for and it doesn’t stop with face wash – it goes head to toe. From basic tips for daily care to treatments for specific problems, it’s time for a little skin care 101.

Body Skin Care Tips / Skin Care Routine

Basic Body Skin Care
Just like our face, the skin on our body can suffer the effects of daily life. Anything from hormones to gym sweat seshes to the products we use will affect its health and appearance. Thus, a good cleanse, exfoliation and hydration are all essential to keeping the skin on your arms, back, shoulder, legs (you get the idea) healthy and glowing! Here are my tips:

Get a good cleanse. If you simply swipe a bar of soap over the main parts of your body and rinse, your routine is probably a bit too basic. Make sure to cleanse thoroughly (but gently) to remove dirt, oil and impurities.

Two or three times per week, switch to an exfoliating body wash like Clinique Sparkle Skin Body Exfoliator (good for sensitive skin) or add in a scrub to eliminate dead skin cells and start afresh.
Get a good rinse. Once you’ve finished applying all products in the shower, including those for your hair, it’s time to rinse everything off to make sure nothing sneaks out of the shower with you!
Moisturize daily. Once your skin is cleansed, rinsed and dry, it’s time to moisturize. Incorporating a moisturizing body lotion into your post-shower regimen will ensure that the skin gets the same hydration your face does during your morning skin care routine.

Dry Skin, Breakouts and Treatments
If you’ve noticed your skin is suffering from extreme dryness, acne or any other skin care issue, sometimes the routine above isn’t enough. Getting to the root of the problem will help you solve it, and then you can work on maintaining healthy skin with your regular routine.

Check your products. If you have sensitive skin, your body wash or lotion could be too harsh or contain chemicals that you’re reacting to. Stop using products and phase them back in one by one to see if you can pinpoint the issue, or see a dermatologist if it’s severe. Even other products you use in the shower, like shampoo and conditioner, could be the culprits – like I said above, making sure you get a good rinse is key, some areas are hard to reach!

Check your actions. If you notice that you break out more during weeks you’ve logged countless hours at the gym, perhaps you need a more thorough cleanse directly after the workout. Sweating while sleeping or oily sheets from daily use could also cause issues while you catch your Zzz’s. Analyze your actions to see if there’s a cause that you can take care of.
Now, you may need to treat issues with products designed to target specific problems:

Treat dry, flaky skin. Treat extremely dry skin by replacing a mild moisturizer with something more heavy-duty, such as Alba Botanica or Mario Badescu’s Super Rich Olive Body Lotion for fast results. You can also tweak your routine to include a body wash that not only exfoliates but hydrates. (Whish promises to do it all without chemicals).

Treat body breakouts. Breakouts and acne are definitely not just a face issue. Body acne can be just as frustrating a problem and acne body wash is a simply way to start finding solutions and it’s easy to incorporate into your current routine.

Work with sensitive skin. Those with sensitive skin will know right away because there’s a plethora of products that are simply too harsh. Learn to find the right products to use for sensitive skin and you’ll do yourself a major favor.

Beaches Top 5 Fave Anastasia Ashley

Our crush on Anastasia Ashley is still going strong. We love seeing her magical life through the Instagram lens, whether she’s catching waves or showing off her moves out of the water. The professional surfer has traveled to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, so we had to ask about her favorite spots, just so we can add them to our own vacation wishlist!

From the crystal waters of Ibiza to the surfers’ paradise of the North Shore, Anastasia explains why she loves these five heavenly spots.

Trestles, San Clemente, CA

Anastasia is from San Clemente, where the famous surf spot known as Trestles can be found.

“It’s my favorite ‘cause it’s my home break!” says Anastasia.

The Banzai Pipeline, North Shore

“My second favorite is probably Pipeline” she says.

The well-known surf reef can be found off Sunset Beach Park in O'ahu's North Shore.

Biarritz, France

Next, we’ll travel to the southwest coast of France to Biarritz, Anastasia’s third cherished spot.

“It’s one of the funnest beach scenes in the world. In the summer it’s definitely a hotspot to be,” describes Anastasia.

HOW TO PULL OFF FASHION ON A BUDGET

Whenever I talk about fashion here on MichellePhan.com, I try to share a wide range of prices. Everyone has a different financial sitch, not to mention there are certain things that simply aren’t worth the money, no matter how much you have. Besides, who doesn’t love a good deal? Luckily, there are a lot of ways to get the look you want regardless of wallet size, thanks in part to the good ol’ world wide web! See what I mean:

Fashion on a Budget

Get Thrifty
From thrift stores to local resale boutiques, buying secondhand has never been easier. Though some shops can still get pricey, this can be surprisingly fruitful in the fashion department. So many people discard good quality and designer duds after one (or zero) use – their loss is your gain! Spend a day driving around your local neighborhoods scouting shops, or check the latest reviews on Yelp to save time.

Take to the WWW
Head to the internet for thrifty prices without the rummaging. Have you guys heard of sites like Twice, ThredUp or online stores ( Ebay.com, Amazon.com etc )

They’re perfect for those who love online shopping, but need to save a few bucks. Plus, after shopping at resale sites you know exactly what to do with your unwanted clothes – make that money back!

Tip for saving: You can use coupon code, promo code for saving. Ex: Get Up To 60% OFF Fashion Outlet + FREE Shipping at eBay, visit at here

Mark Your Calendar
Keep track of the *big* sales at your favorite stores. For example, if you can hold off until the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale in the summer or Black Friday deals, you’ll get the most bang for your buck buying new. An added bonus – department stores rotate their stock so often that you can regularly browse the clearance racks. If you chat with a store associate, you can likely find out which days of the week new items are added and get your first pick of those deals.

Analyze Costs
It may seem backwards to shell out money for a simple white t-shirt as opposed to a nice party dress, but think about it – what’s going to require near daily use? By doing a little cost-benefit analysis of purchases (divide the price of the item by how many uses you intend to get out of it), you’ll quickly see what’s worth the money and what isn’t.

SPRING FASHION TRENDS TO GET BEHIND NOW

Ah, trends. I’m a big believer in doing what makes you happy, even if it’s not trendy or cool. But if a trend pops up that seems worth a try, I always give it a go! You never know what you’ll fall in love with, especially with fashion. This spring I’ve been seeing a few looks that could take your outfit up a notch, so naturally I’m sharing them with you:

Spring Fashion Trends to Get Behind This Year

Silver Foil Tunic, Lux T-Shirt, Platform Sandals, Fisherman Platform Sandals, Floral Mesh Dress, Rose Trim Hat, Flora Mesh Tee, Lace Top

Muted Metallics
Metallics aren’t just for the holidays, guys. Prisms have been a fun accessory trend to try this season, and I’m loving how they’re mixed with other metallic elements like gold and silver as statement pieces and accents. If you don’t consider yourself a big risk taker in regards to fashion, consider this a no fail first step. Muted metallics aren’t super bold, but they accent an otherwise (potentially) boring outfit.

Platform Sandals
This throwback comes around every now and then (did anyone else have platform flip-flops in the early 2000s?!) and this spring it’s being paired with candy-colored sandals, spring wedges and even your basic sneaker. Stay tuned for my skirt and shoe guide later this week to see my favorite ways to rock a platform shoe.

Shopping tip : Enjoy 20% - 90% OFF + FREE Shipping Every Day On Daily Deals at eBay. Items included: clothing, shoes, jewelry, watches, electronics and more! No code required! Get Coupon code for Ebay april 2015 now!

Marsala + Pastels
After the Pantone color of the year is announced, it’s always interesting to see how fashion pros choose to incorporate it into their wardrobe. Since it’s spring and pastels are always in this time of year, marsala and pastels are a must-try combo. Marsala looks great with a dusty pastel pink like the floppy hat above, or try minty green or powder blue instead.

Floral Applique
Yes, floral is another ‘always in’ trend. But the runways at fashion week showed flowers gone 3-d with bold appliques on dresses, sweaters and more. It sounds a bit granny, but try it with a tousled hairstyle and a sleek accessory for balance, and this is actually very chic.

A MORNING SKIN CARE ROUTINE

How we treat our skin throughout the day can make a big difference in the clarity and cleanliness of our face, but it’s our morning and nighttime routines that matter most. In the morning, we’re refreshing and prepping our skin for the day ahead–helping give it that natural glow whether we wear makeup or not.

It can take some time and product testing to find what skin care ingredients work best, but once you’ve found the proper combination, you’re well on your way to great skin. I like to use products that are heavy on natural ingredients and/or work as a preventative for unforeseen skin concerns ahead. Here’s a look at my morning routine that you can use as a guide for what to include in yours.

Morning and Nighttime skin care routine

1. Wipe away impurities - It is essential to wash your face at night to clear product away, but in the morning fully washing your face isn’t always necessary. That said, wiping it clean with removal pads or a cleansing treatment like Perricone MD Blue Plasma will whisk away any built up oils and leave you feeling awake, and your skin ready for absorption. You can buy this items at Ebay.com

2. Apply a Facial Mist - To give my skin extra hydration and radiance, I spritz May Coop Morning Dew Acer Maple Water on before any serums or lotions. Facial mists have many benefits.  They’re an excellent pre-makeup moisturize blast, they can be used to soothe skin and set makeup once your entire application is complete. It’s the natural wonders within that make this Korean product a must.

3. Apply a Serum - If you’re following the proper order of skin care application then you know that next up is a serum. I like to use a few pumps of Ayer-Medic 24 Hour Moisturizing Serum because it packs a big punch of moisture thanks to argan oil and other essentials within. Plus, the product lifts and repairs to keep aging skin looking tight and youthful.

4. Moisturize - A traditional face cream works just fine, but I like finishing my routine with a high concentrate of hyaluronic acid like Phyto-C Icy Blue droplets. Add 3 or 4 drops to your hands, rub them together and then apply all over your face. Hyaluronic acid locks in water, increases elasticity, and its anti-inflammatory properties calm the skin, giving your skin an even tone.

Since we use the nighttime to rejuvenate, there can often be more products in our bedtime routine. The primary concern is getting your face clean, then it’s hydrate, hydrate, hydrate with masks, serums and the other steps from my evening skin care routine in the video below.

5 Skin care products to try this year at Ebay.com

We’re halfway through March and the weather is starting to turn itself around all over the country. That means there are a lot of products and advanced ingredients that can give your winter-worn skin a workout and reveal a naturally glowing face for all of the warmer nights ahead.

With so many trends and ways to amplify your beauty routine, it’s the perfect time to look at the exfoliating, brightening and hydrating products that may have missed your radar. While coconut oil and thermal water will always have a place in our routines, there are other beauty ingredients destined to make waves in 2015. These 5 products, with key natural ingredients you’ll be seeing a lot more of, deserve a spot in your medicine cabinet now.

Skin Care and Makeup Products to Try this year: GLAMGlow YouthCleanse Daily Exfoliating Cleanser / pureSOL Konjac Sponge / Yes to Tomatoes Activated Charcoal Bar Soap / Fresh Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask / Mizon Egg White Bubble Cleanser

Konjac Sponge – Popular for years in Japan, this facial sponge–made from a porous root vegetable–is great for all skin types thanks to it’s gentle, yet textured, structure. The sponge softens up when soaked in water and sloughs off dead skin cells without needing to add any cleansing product.

Yes to Tomatoes Activated Charcoal Bar Soap – If you feel more comfortable using soap to wash away bacteria and oils from your skin, then this bar may be a blessing. Activated charcoal is nothing new in the beauty industry (this entire diy mask is made of it), but the almost all-natural, very affordable bar also contains Lycopene–an antioxidant that is a skin care ingredient must.

Fresh Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask – Fresh’s new Perfecting Mask contains black tea ferment (aka kombucha), which fights free radicals, balances the skin’s pH and exfoliates with the help of its probiotic and antioxidant properties. If the mask is a little too steep in price for you, don’t fret, you can expect to see more probiotic heavy products over the next year.

Mizon Egg White Bubble Cleanser – Egg yolks have been used in plenty of DIY hair masks, but it’s the whites that give your skin a smooth finish. In bar soap form for decades, egg whites are now making their way into foam cleansers that refine pores, exfoliate and brighten skin. Korean brand Mizon’s formula, that also contains trehalose and papaya fruit for hydration, cleans pores, exfoliates skin and increases overall firmness.

GlamGlow YouthCleanse Daily Exfoliating Cleanser - Make way for fresh flawless skin with this exfoliating wash that contains flaxseed oil and quinoa. We’ve seen how great some of the most widely used essential oils can work, but you probably didn’t think these healthy buzz-worthy food items could also have beauty benefits.  Their omega-3 fatty acids promote health, while the flaxseed oil’s anti-inflammatory properties keep your dry skin soothed.

Fashion Shopping Tips: How To Shop During The Sales

Shopping during the sales can very often be a super stressful experience. All that rush and chaos often make you do some impulse buys and when you go home you realize that you weren't actually looking for what you have bought and you have not even made real bargains (yes, it has happened to be best of us) ! What you may not know is that, in order to make all the best deals  and go home satisfied after a sales shopping spree, it requires a lot of preparation and know-how. There are so many sales period during the year, such as Back to School sales, Black Friday sales, Christmas sales, New year sale and more, that working out how to make the best out of them can really save you money, so here are all the best tips you need to know to make savvy buys this year!

Source: Ebay.com

Tip 1: Plan everything in advance

Before the sales even start, have a look around at the shops and spot already what you would like to buy. Do a wardrobe check up too to spot the gaps and avoid buying 2 of the same. Make a precise plan on which shops you would like to go to when the sales start, but the most important thing: don't get distracted and stick to all these plans!

Tip 2: Decide a precise budget

In order not to end up spending more than you can afford, plan your budget in advance based on what you have spotted during your researching and planning.

Tip 3: Invest in the classics

You don't want to buy something that you are only going to wear for a few weeks before it goes out of fashion, so your best bet is to go for all the classic items that you are going to be able to wear for years and years to come.

Tip 4: Check the prices

Sometimes shops promote some "fake" sales, in the sense that they raise the retail price of a couple of dollars just to make it look like you are saving a lot of money with the sales, but in fact you are probably paying the actual retail price of that item. Check on the internet the price of the item you want to buy to see if that is actually a real bargain or not.

Tip 5: Shop online

In order to avoid all the stress and the rush of sales shopping, the internet is a great way to find the best deals from the comfort of your home. Keep checking your favorite online stores in order to catch the beginning of the sales (most online stores will start sales at different times than high-street shops). Check out also the Coupon4share's stores for the best deals.

Tip 6: Plan your shopping time strategically

Go early for the best selection and for more possibilities to find your size or later for the best prices, risking though not to find the clothes that you were looking for. It is your choice!

So now you know all my personal tips for shopping during sales period. Do you have any more tips and tricks to share? Leave me a comment and don't forget to share this article with your friends!
